Rehabilitation Therapies
Visiting Nurse and Community
Health’s Rehabilitation
services are administered by
our registered and licensed
physical, occupational and
speech therapists. Our
therapists, working closely
with our Multidisciplinary
Care Team, provide the
necessary support, education
and instruction following
debilitating illnesses and
injuries, and often provide
home safety evaluations.
Our physical therapists work
with patients, their
families and other health
care providers to assist
patients in achieving their
optimal level of functioning
in the home. Occupational
therapists increase the
safety, efficiency and
proficiency in activities of
daily living and maximize
the patient's functional
skills. Our speech
therapists work closely with
patients and their families
to help the patient reach
his or her optimum skill
level in communicating basic
needs and interacting with
other people.
VNCH provides services to
patients recuperating from
hip or knee replacements,
strokes, and bone fractures;
patients who have undergone
recent surgical procedures
(e.g., orthopedic, vascular,
cardiac); patients
sustaining traumatic
injuries, such as head
injuries or neurological
illness; patients with
decreased lung capacity,
secondary to an underlying
medical condition; and
patients who need
instruction and training in
performing activities of
daily living, with or
without the use of adaptive
devices (e.g., raised toilet
seat).
